“Overall, a well made, engaging educational app – highly recommended.”  The iMums

Smarty Britches: A Southern Boy Discovers Nouns, presents a boy who owns a pair of magical pants that teach him nouns: a day in the life of a southern boy!  Travel to the deep South and explore the Arkansas River, visit Hog Heaven, enjoy Smarty Britches Jackson and Poppy as they find a new home for the raccoon family, and more…while learning the types of nouns: people, animal, place, thing, or idea.  As you read the story, there are opportunities to practice what you have learned!

“I really liked these Common Core activities and the obvious care shown in the construction of this app.”  Carissa Digital Story-Time

“You know you are getting a quality and tested educational app as Ms. Sebourn is a National Board Certified Teacher with over 25 years teaching experience!  It is a unique story that introduces one to the Southern way of living and talking – pretty cool addition you don’t see in other apps that make this a multi-dimensional educational app!  It reached #4 in iTunes in the educational apps – congrats to Ms. Sebourn!”   Melissa Northway Penelope the Purple Pirate

Smarty Britches: Nouns
What I bring to the table regarding storybook apps is unique.  I am a retired English teacher, and I am a National Board Certified Teacher.  My app is not just educational (as well as charming), but it is the first educational storybook app that comes with free curriculum for teachers, homeschoolers, and parents.  This app and its curriculum are approximately first through third grade levels; however, we know that “grade levels” are subjective as we need to meet the needs of the gifted and the special needs students.
I am teaching cultural literacy with this first app, which is set in the South – another first.  My philosophy is that students all around our wonderful world should know the unique qualities of southerners.  I am also teaching classical musical and art with this app; kids are never too young to be exposed to culture.
I always welcome advice (and praise), and I thank you for helping me teach children – and teach them well!  Now…my Smarty Activities:
